N'Gor Island and Village

Kakatar Residence is just a 5-minutes’ taxi ride away from the N'Gor district and its island, famous for being the home of two renowned singers, France Gall and Akon, and also many local artists. To reach the island you need to go by pirogue (a small flat-bottomed boat).

N'Gor village is dotted with restaurants and nightclubs and partying continues until around 4.30 am (and even later in the city centre!). Don’t miss the Duplexe nightclub, Le Nirvana (especially the Mbalax evenings with Salam Diallo), Le Patio to eat or have a drink, Chez Katia (good restaurant open 24/7), Cap Vert Casino if you want to try your luck or have a drink, or La Calebasse restaurant at the edge of the village.

You will also find plenty of shops, particularly the Dakar Centre (Casino supermarket selling everything you find in Europe as well as local products, Guess boutique, European-style coffee shop and a sports shop). There are also beauty spas and various other boutiques.
